There has been a misconception about adding gravel to plant containers. Contrary to popular belief, adding gravel can trap water near the roots and lead to root rot. It is best to avoid using gravel in flower pots.

When adding compost to your container plants, follow the same formula as adding it to soil. Gently mix it into the soil, making sure not to disturb the roots of existing plants.

For tomato plants, it is important to provide them with sufficient calcium to prevent blossom-end rot. Adding crushed eggshells to the soil can be beneficial in providing this necessary nutrient.
